Cheryl Smith is a 38-year public school educator, a breast cancer survivor, and a proud Virginia Beach neighbor from a Navy family. Cheryl has spent her life serving others, from teaching and coaching thousands of local students to working as an election official in her community. Now she is running to protect public schools, defend veterans, and stand up for working families in the 98th District. Her policy priorities are to protect veterans and military families; make costs of living affordable for working and middle class families; keep public dollars in public schools; expand food and housing security; protect reproductive freedom; address flooding and climate impacts; and defend marriage equality.
